How To Use Your Magic
Jack In
A Business Environment.
Hi everyone.
I have purchased three Magic Jacks and after much work found tips that will
help you. When I first bought them I was hoping to use them in a business.
Times were hard and I was trying to save some money and keep the business
alive. So I purchased several Magic Jacks.
Originally they were to be used for our dialer. This is a computer that
would dial out 40 numbers at a time and return leads to our sales people.
The first thing I realized was that you can only have one Magic Jack per
computer. This was a nuisance but after laying off many people we had
plenty of extra computers around. So here we were with multiple computers
stacked upon each other buzzing away. Tested each one with a phone and all
were working fine. This sounded great until I found out the dialer did not
like VOIP phone lines. They are to noisy for the dialer software to use.
Yes, I should of tested one with the dialer first but such is life. After
this debacle I did call my dialer company and was told they had a new dialer
for only $1,200.00 that would work on VOIP lines. So not wanting to buy a
new dialer and "still loving my Magic Jacks" I tried a new application.
The new idea was to use them with my phone system. This seemed to work
fine! I was happy until....They do not work in hunt. This means that when
one line is being used it automatically goes to the next line. Ok, I solved
the problem by only using the Magic Jacks for single line sales rep lines.
This was accomplished by having my phone guy program those phones to only
dial out and receive from one line. Once a call came in it could be
transferred by our phone system. The customers never knew the difference.
So to conclude....If you try hard enough you can squeeze a square peg into a
round hole.
